Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2016
This privacy policy sets out how WCRDE uses and protects any information that you give WCRDE when you use this website.
The World Council for Regular and Distance Education - WCRDE is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.
If we decide to change the WCRDE Privacy Policy, we will post those changes to our website at https://wcrde-edu.org/privacypolicy.html
WCRDE collects two types of information. The first type is anonymous information. For instance, we may collect information to tell us that a thousand people visited this Privacy Policy today via our website, but we do not know their names, where they live or their date of birth – they are ‘anonymous’ to us. Many of the individuals who access our services via our website are anonymous to us.
The second type of information that WCRDE collects is personal information. WCRDE collects personal information from you when you apply to use our products, services and programs. The type of information collected and stored by WCRDE generally includes your name, last name, country, email address, qualifications & interests etc. This information may also be used to inform you of additional products and services, which may interest you.
WCRDE automatically gathers anonymous information to monitor the use of its website like the numbers and frequency of visitors to our website and its areas, very much like television ratings that tell the networks how many people tuned in to a program. We only use such data in the aggregate. This collective data helps us to determine how people use parts of the site, so we can improve WCRDE to provide a better all round experience. WCRDE will not publish or provide this aggregate data to other people.
WCRDE will only use the personal information you have chosen to provide us for the purpose for which you provided it. WCRDE will not use it for any other purpose without your consent.
You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:
a. whenever you are asked to fill in a form on the website, look for the box that you can click to indicate that you do not want the information to be used by anybody for direct marketing purposes.
b. if you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by writing to or emailing us at [email protected]
We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.
You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act India. A small fee will be payable. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to [email protected]
If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible, at the above email address. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.
We protect any personal information we hold from misuse or loss. We also protect it from unauthorized access, modification and disclosure.
Only authorised users can access your personal information and access is only for approved purposes. Your personal information may be stored in hardcopy documents, as electronic data, or in WCRDE’s software and systems.
We maintain physical security over our paper and electronic data stores.
